Have you ever watched Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals? One of the things that she uses to tame the mess of chopping up vegetables while cooking is her "Garbage Bowl." I loved the idea but I was not sure if I really needed to spend $20 on a garbage bowl (yep, $20, check it out here) and I didn't want to have an extra dish to wash on top of all the dishes I was using to get dinner ready. That is when I thought of using grocery bags instead.
The idea of using one single item to have right next to you while cooking to contain all the mess is great. You don't have to drag your garbage can close to you and reach down, make multiple trips, or use your sink as a temporary garbage holder (which can cause even more of a mess.) Reusing grocery bags is a time and money saver, simultaneously. It also helps to make cleanup easy, to lessen cooking time, AND you will not dread chopping all the good-for-you veggies to add to your meal.
So the next time you go shopping at the grocery store, make sure you save your grocery bags. Additionally, you can use an empty paper towel roll to hold the bags inside, leaving your kitchen drawers neat and tidy!
As a side note, now that you are saving your grocery bags check out 50 ways to reuse your grocery bags.
What are some of your time saving tip while cooking?
